ABOUT

ABOUT THE DBIA

A Business Improvement Area (BIA) is a provincially legislated association of business people and building owners who have joined together to promote, beautify, and improve the physical area known as the downtown.

The Cobourg DBIA promotes the downtown as a vibrant and healthy commercial, retail, residential and cultural centre. The Cobourg DBIA focuses on attracting more people to shop, live, work and gather in Downtown Cobourg.

The Cobourg DBIA has over 250 businesses within our boundaries. Our boundaries are located in the heart of Downtown Cobourg reaching from James Street to the Esplanade (N-S) & College Street to Durham Street (E-W) as per Bylaw 066-2012. For a map of our boundaries, please email downtowncobourg@gmail.com.

Membership is based solely on geography. If you operate a business and/or own commercial property within Cobourg DBIA boundaries, you are automatically a DBIA member!

ABOUT THE BOARD

The Downtown Cobourg Board of Management consists of 7 members: six members of the Business Improvement Area (BIA) and one Town of Cobourg representative.

The purpose of the Downtown Cobourg Board of Management is to oversee the marketing, beautification, maintenance, and development of Downtown Cobourg as a heritage shopping attraction and as the primary regional centre for business in Cobourg.

The Downtown Cobourg Board of Management meets on the second Thursday of each month at 9:00 am. Liaisons from both the Cobourg Police Services and Northumberland Chamber of Commerce partake in monthly board meetings. Our Committees are led by a member of our Board and formed from downtown Cobourg business owners and facilitated by our DBIA Administrator.
